Safety Officer | Commercial Construction Projects Across SA
ROUSSOS Recruitment is partnering with a highly regarded fit-out, refurbishment, and commercial construction contractor in South Australia, known for delivering complex commercial projects with a strong focus on quality, collaboration, and safety. Their portfolio spans education, health, hospitality, mixed-use developments, and commercial fit-outs, with projects ranging up to $50M nationally.

The Role
As Safety Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining strong safety standards across multiple active sites and ensuring safety remains front of mind throughout all stages of project delivery. Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and operational teams, you will help foster a proactive safety culture across both new build and fit-out environments.

The Role
As Safety Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining strong safety standards across multiple active sites and ensuring safety remains front of mind throughout all stages of project delivery. Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and operational teams, you will help foster a proactive safety culture across both new build and fit-out environments.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting site inductions, toolbox talks, audits, inspections, and risk assessments
- Managing permits, licences, and ensuring site compliance requirements are met
- Leading incident investigations, including ICAM reporting and corrective actions
- Supporting crane operations and high-risk activities in line with legislative requirements
- Maintaining safety documentation, reports, and compliance records
- Working closely with site teams to continuously improve WHS systems and processes
- Acting as a key point of contact for all site-related safety matters
To succeed in this role, you will bring previous experience in a safety-focused role within commercial construction and enjoy being present on site, building strong relationships, and driving positive outcomes.
You will ideally have:
- 2+ years’ experience in a Safety Officer or similar role within construction
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum)
- First Aid qualifications
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management practices
- Experience across high-rise, apartments, commercial builds, or fit-out projects highly regarded
- Exposure to crane safety or high-risk environments will be highly valued
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders at all levels
