Civil - Safety Advisor

Our client is a globally renowned civil contractor, which has a secured pipeline of upcoming work in South Australia. With a strong reputation in the civil engineering sector, our client has a track record of successfully delivering transport & utility infrastructure projects, including road construction and in-ground service installation. We are now seeking an established construction safety professional to join their collaborative team, to drive their safety culture. This is a great opportunity for someone who is seeking to develop their career within a Tier 1 environment, in a contractor which places a strong focus on health and safety.
 
The role
This Safety Advisor role will be primarily responsible for partnering with Project Managers on multiple projects to ensure that site safety is prioritised and projects are carried out safely. Working both in-office and on-site, this role will drive the safety culture on our client’s projects. A highly collaborative role, the Safety Advisor will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients on site safety walks.
  
Your key responsibilities will include, however are not limited to:
  • Partnering with Project Managers and collaborating with the wider team throughout the lifecycle of projects
  • Promoting a safety culture on projects, maintaining corporate policies and procedures
  • Producing SWMS & incident reports as required, at a site level
  • Conducting site safety walks with clients, undertaking site inspections and maintaining HSEQ standards
  • Attending site pre-starts, conducting site inductions & ensuring compliance
  • Plant inspections and maintenance
The ideal candidate
Our ideal candidate will possess a certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, and will demonstrate established construction industry experience, with safety duties. Due to the collaborative nature of this position, you will possess strong relationship development and stakeholder management skills. As this role will be contributing to the delivery of regional projects, this role will be required to travel to site. Our client’s projects are no more than 4 hours outside of the Adelaide CBD & accommodation and meals will be provided. It is desirable that the successful candidate has experience working on DIT projects, however this is not essential.
