The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to step into a senior leadership role with one of the world's most respected engineering consultancies, globally recognised for shaping landmark infrastructure, cities, and complex technical projects. With a long-established presence in Australia and a strong, values-led culture, this organisation is known for combining technical excellence with commercial discipline and collaborative delivery.

The opportunity has arisen due to the current Commercial Lead relocating interstate. A comprehensive handover will ensure continuity and allow you to step confidently into a role with genuine influence. As the Senior Commercial Lead for the Adelaide office, you will sit at the intersection of commercial analysis, project performance, and strategic decision-making, acting as a trusted commercial partner to project leaders and executive management.

This role reports directly to the State Leader, providing strong visibility, influence, and alignment with the broader business strategy.

What You Will Do
  • Lead the Adelaide post-contract commercial function, ensuring projects are delivered in line with programme objectives, contractual obligations, and commercial targets
  • Act as the strategic commercial analyst across the SA portfolio, monitoring performance, profitability, and risk
  • Manage executed contracts, ensuring services are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with project governance and ethical standards
  • Work closely with clients, project managers, consultants, and delivery partners to ensure timely and accurate commercial outcomes
  • Support the development and implementation of the state commercial strategy
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to the commercial team
  • Oversee and coordinate key commercial activities including:
    • Payment certification
    • Variations and change management
    • Claims assessment, position reporting, and commercial negotiations
    • Production of cost, forecast, and commercial reports
What You Bring
  • Significant senior commercial experience within an engineering consultancy or delivery partner environment
  • Strong commercial acumen with an analytical, strategic mindset
  • Proven experience managing complex contracts, mitigating risk, and driving profitability
  • Ability to influence at senior and executive levels
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
